About the Event

The gold market has undergone significant change over the past two decades, and in the last year, gold emerged as one of the best performing major assets in 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic.

Gold benefits from diverse sources of demand: as an investment, a reserve asset, a luxury good and a technology component. It is a highly liquid yet scarce asset, historically preserving its value over time. Gold carries an emotional, cultural and financial value to different people across the globe who buy gold for different reasons, often influenced by a range of national socio-cultural factors, local market conditions and wider macro-economic drivers.

During this webinar, John Reade, Chief Market Strategist and Managing Director of Research at the World Gold Council, will discuss the case for gold as a strategic tool to address the challenges investors face. He will aim to dispel some of the many misperceptions around gold: that its merely a tactical hedging tool, there are better ways to protect against inflation, it only preserves capital, to name a few.

Zhoufei Shi, Investment Strategist at Cardano, will then share his experience in analysing gold and discuss how it may be implemented in client portfolios, as well as the investment benefits it can bring.
